Jimmy Crowley, legendary Cork folksinger, visited the school. His main concert was for the senior class with historical songs and storied related to the 1916 Easter Rising. With this being the Centenary year it related well with lessons being taught to classes from 3rd class up. They thoroughly enjoyed the hour long concert and learnt a lot about how life was for the people of the time through the ballads. Jimmy sang a song he wrote himself as an interlude, about more modern times and the new cyber life we lead which was received very well while they all joined in with the chorus.
The junior classes were not to miss out however as we requested that Mr. Crowley do a more age appropriate concert for them with some lovely sing-along-song which held their attention and was highly entertaining. What a wonderful experience for the whole school? A day they will always remember.
