Congratulations to all who took part in this year’s Scór na Páistí regional semi-finals on Saturday February 10th in Minane Bridge Hall.

We were well represented this year, competing in five categories. Abby Taylor recited a poem, ‘The Old Woman of the Road’ by Padraic Colum. She gave a confident and clear rendition. Dawn Murphy sang ‘The Mountains of Morne’ in the ‘Amhraíocht Aonar’ category. She sang tunefully and with conviction. Both girls were marked highly and are to be commended representing the school. It is not easy to get up on stage alone. We are so proud of them.

Our ballad group sang, ‘The Scholar’ and ‘Trasna na dTonnta’. They sounded lovely with subtle harmonies and have been advanced to the next stage of the competition.

The ‘Léiríú’ (play) was about Emigration and Immigration over the last 5 generations. Our students performed very well and scored highly and will be performing in the Regional Finals in Riverstick on March 4th.

We wish them all the best of luck.
